Take a Moment

“You don’t have to come with us, you know,” Alavesa said as Emaarion emerged from his room.  She was standing near the door, not really looking for him as much as just wandering aimlessly when he happened to step out.

Emaarion looked over at the sound of her voice as he pulled the door closed, arching a brow at her statement.  He walked over and crossed his arms over his chest, looking down at the red haired Dunmer that stood only as tall as his broad shoulders.

“Are you releasing me from my obligations?” he asked curiously.

“No.  I just thought with your friend here…”

Emaarion interrupted.  “My friend?”

Alavesa nodded towards Wyll’s room.  “Yes.  Your friend.  I just thought you’d rather be done with this and…”

Em couldn’t help but interrupt again.  “She has a name, Alavesa.”

Alavesa nodded.  “Yes, I’m sure she does.  I just can’t remember it.”

Em laughed loudly.  “Can’t or don’t want to?”

Alavesa shrugged.  “I’m sure I’ve heard it several times.  It just keeps slipping my mind.  I’ve never been very good with names.”

A wide smile broke across Emarrion’s face, his humor reflected in his yellow green eyes.  Leaning closer, he asked, “What’s her name, Alavesa?”

Alavesa huffed and clasped her hands in front of her.  “Really, Emaarion, I can’t be expected to keep a running list of all the women you and Wyll shuffle between you.”

Em almost choked on the air he was breathing, surprised by her words.  “Whoa, whoa, whoa.  Shuffle between us?”

Alavesa looked back at him, her expression utterly blank.  “Well, that is what you’ve been doing hidden away in your rooms all this time, isn’t it?”

Em smiled and shook his head as he started walking.  “I didn’t realize you had such a dirty mind.  Yes, that’s exactly what we’ve been doing all day every day.  Would you like to join us?  I’m sure we could fit you in.”

Vesa rolled her eyes as she started to walk with him.  “Oh, I’m sure Wyll would love that.  He doesn’t like me very much.”

“He doesn’t have to like you to sleep with you.”

Vesa reached over and smacked his arm with the back of her hand.  “Now whose got a dirty mind?”

Em’s smiled widened into a grin.  “You have no idea.  Yet, I’m not the one making assumptions.  Or has somebody been whispering in your ear?”

Vesa looked over at him.  “No one has to whisper anything.”  She grinned back at him.  “Everyone knows about your weakness for red heads.”

Em laughed again.  “You forgot the fiery part.”

She rolled her eyes in response.  “And here I thought you were the proper one.”

Em stopped at the door and opened it for her.  “I left my manners back at the whorehouse.”

Vesa laughed.  “Along with your virginity, I hope,” she quipped as she stepped outside.

“No,” he said, watching her walk.  “I left that in Winterhold.”
